Kaimetrix is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team based in in Washington, DC. The Data Scientist (SME) will be a subject matter expert providing technical knowledge and expertise in complex technology implementation and data analytics projects. The ideal candidate has experience leading moderate-sized data science teams and possesses knowledge spanning business operations and development. The role requires proficiency in handling specialized applications and IT systems to provide strategic insights and solutions to complex problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert analysis and guidance on specialized applications and highly complex IT systems, integrating advanced mathematical principles to resolve narrowly defined issues.
  • Lead moderate-sized data science teams in delivering technical solutions and managing projects.
  • Apply pattern recognition techniques to large structured, semi-structured, and unstructured datasets to automate and optimize data wrangling processes.
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, using advanced techniques like joins, subqueries, aggregation, indices, and common table expressions.
  • Implement and refine data models, mining strategies, data cleansing processes, and segmentation methods.
  • Utilize one or more programming languages or applications such as Python, R, SAS, Tableau, or AWS to support data manipulation and statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrate understanding of trade-offs in algorithm scaling between small and large data environments, adapting solutions to fit context-specific requirements.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of federal grant-making policies, procedures, and administration.
  • Provide clear and comprehensive documentation and integration guidance in line with project requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years of professional experience in planning, conducting, and participating in the facets of performance requirements, as outlined in the project scope.
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Substitution Criteria:

  • Fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in data science and complex technology implementations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Desired Skills:

  • Expertise in data manipulation, data cleansing, and segmentation techniques.
  • Proficiency in developing and optimizing SQL queries involving advanced techniques.
  • Experience in coding and debugging stored procedures.
  • Development experience using one or more of the following: Python, R, SAS, Tableau, or AWS.
  • Ability to navigate both small and big data environments and balance trade-offs between scaling solutions.
